Alec Scheiner is a Founding Partner at Otro. Alec has operated, invested and advised in the sports industry for over 25 years.
Prior to founding Otro, Alec was a Partner of RedBird, and head of its sports investment practice. In his role at RedBird, Alec, together with the other Founding Partners, was primarily responsible for having originated the investments in OneTeam (founded with the NFL Players Association and the Major League Baseball Players Association), Toulouse FC, the Rajasthan Royals, Zelus Analytics, Collectors Universe and Dream Sports.
At RedBird, Alec helped lead OneTeam’s growth trajectory, including helping to architect the company’s partnerships with Electronic Arts Inc., Dapper Labs, Fanatics Trading CardCo and DraftKings. Under Alec’s stewardship, Toulouse FC was crowned the champion of the French Ligue 2 in the 2021-2022 season, resulting in the club’s promotion to the French Ligue 1, 2023 French Cup champions and qualification for UEFA’s Europa League one year later.
Prior to joining RedBird, Alec had a successful 12-year operating career in sports. From 2012 to 2016, Alec was President of the Cleveland Browns. Under his leadership, the team set sales records for profits, season tickets, club seats, suites and corporate partnerships.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Browns, Alec spent eight years with the Dallas Cowboys, initially as General Counsel, then as the first non-ownership Senior Vice President. While at the Dallas Cowboys, Alec helped design the sales strategy for the $1.2 billion AT&T Stadium and was instrumental in structuring and negotiating the public and private financing of the stadium during the financial crisis. He was also the point person for the Dallas Cowboys on the creation of Legends Hospitality, in partnership with the New York Yankees and Goldman Sachs. At Legends Hospitality, Alec served on the Board of Directors, was the Dallas Cowboys’ representative on its three-person executive committee and helped develop the Legends Premium Sales model.
Alec began his career as a transactional lawyer at WilmerHale, where his deal experience included complex sale, acquisition and relocation transactions involving professional sports franchises. Example transactions include Steve Bisciotti’s purchase of a control stake of the Baltimore Ravens, Ted Leonsis’ acquisition of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, the relocation of the NBA Hornets to New Orleans, and substantial transactional work for the Dallas Cowboys.
Alec serves as Otro’s representative on Alpine Racing’s Board of Directors. Alec also serves on the Boards of Zelus Analytics, the Rajasthan Royals and Fenway Sports Group. Alec was previously a member of the Board of Directors for OneTeam and Toulouse FC. Alec is also an investor in PGA Tour Enterprises as part of the Strategic Sports Group.
Alec holds a B.S.F.S. in International Economics and Latin American Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law School.
Brent Stehlik is a Founding Partner at Otro. Brent has operated and invested in the sports industry for over 25 years.
Prior to founding Otro, Brent was an Operating Partner at RedBird, where he also served as the President of OneTeam.
In his role at OneTeam, Brent was responsible for the day-to-day activity of the business and growth of the commercial licenses and marketing opportunities. Brent helped lead OneTeam’s growth trajectory from $44 million of EBITDA to $177 million of EBITDA in under three years. He helped architect the company’s partnerships with Electronic Arts Inc., Dapper Labs, Fanatics Trading CardCo and DraftKings. Under his leadership, OneTeam added licenses with brands such as Bally’s, Dapper Labs, Sorare and Mythical Games and signed long-term extensions that included significant increases with EA Sports and Sony, among others. During his tenure as President, OneTeam also added player association relationships with the Major League Soccer Players Association, the United States Women’s National (Soccer) Team Players Association, National Women’s Soccer League Players Association and Women’s National Basketball Association.
In his role as an Operating Partner at RedBird, Brent was actively involved in driving commercial growth across RedBird’s sports portfolio, including at Toulouse FC.
Prior to joining RedBird, Brent had a successful 20-year career as an operator in the NFL, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League and Minor League Baseball. Brent was Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of the Cleveland Browns, where he oversaw all aspects of revenue generation for the franchise, including ticket sales and retention, operations, suite and premium sales, corporate partnership sales and activation, concessions, merchandise and special events.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Browns, Brent was Senior Vice President of business operations for the San Diego Padres, where he managed all aspects of revenue generation and marketing. Brent has held additional roles at the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brent holds a B.A. in Sport Business and double minor in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from the University of Mount Union.
Niraj Shah is a Founding Partner at Otro.
Prior to founding Otro, Niraj worked at RedBird for nine years, where he focused on investments in the sports, media and entertainment industries.
In his role at RedBird, Niraj, together with the other Founding Partners, was primarily responsible for having originated the investments in OneTeam, Toulouse FC, the Rajasthan Royals, Zelus Analytics, Collectors Universe and Dream Sports. Niraj was also involved in an operational capacity in RedBird’s investments in On Location Experiences (a joint venture in partnership with the NFL), the Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network, Skydance Media, Fenway Sports Group, Wasserman, The SpringHill Company, the XFL and AC Milan. During his tenure at RedBird, Niraj was also involved in the non-investment aspects of building a private equity firm, such as operations, finance, legal and fundraising.
Prior to joining RedBird, Niraj was an Associate at Apax Partners, where he focused on investments within the media and business services industries. Niraj began his career as an Analyst in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, focused on the consumer and retail industries.
Niraj serves as an observer on the Board of Directors of Alpine Racing. Niraj was previously a member of the Board of Directors for AC Milan and Toulouse FC.
Philanthropically, Niraj is on the Leadership Council of The Opportunity Network, an organization whose mission is to provide students from low income and underrepresented backgrounds in the New York City area with hands-on college prep and career education services.
Niraj holds a B.S. in Finance and Marketing with honors from The Ohio State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Niraj was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2017 and Mergers and Acquisition’s Rising Stars of Private Equity in 2021.
Isaac Halyard is a Founding Partner at Otro.
Prior to founding Otro, Isaac was a Vice President at RedBird, where he focused on sports and media investments for six years.
In his role at RedBird, Isaac, together with the other Founding Partners, was primarily responsible for having originated the investments in OneTeam, Toulouse FC, the Rajasthan Royals, Zelus Analytics, Collectors Universe and Dream Sports. Isaac was also involved in an operational capacity in RedBird’s investments in On Location Experiences, the YES Network, Skydance Media, Fenway Sports Group, Wasserman, The SpringHill Company and AC Milan.
Prior to joining RedBird, Isaac was an Analyst in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, where he advised a variety of clients within the technology, media and telecommunications group on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings and leveraged buyouts.
Isaac serves as an observer on the Board of Directors of Alpine Racing. Isaac was previously a member of the Board of Directors for AC Milan and Toulouse FC.
Philanthropically, Isaac serves on the Board of Directors of FC Harlem, a specialized non-profit program for talented and committed minority youth ages 10-19, who often do not get opportunities to pursue soccer development at the highest levels.
Isaac holds a B.A. in Economics and a minor in African and African American Studies from Stanford University. Isaac was named to Sports Business Journal’s New Voices Under 30 in 2021.
Gavin Springer is a Senior Associate of Otro Capital and member of the founding team.
In 2023, Gavin was actively involved in Otro’s €200M investment in Alpine F1, the Formula 1 team owned by Renault.
Prior to joining Otro, Gavin was an Associate at RedBird Capital Partners where he focused on Sports & Media investments. Gavin was actively involved in the management and oversight of the firm’s investments in AC Milan, Dream Sports, Fenway Sports Group, Toulouse Football Club, Wasserman, the Rajasthan Royals and Zelus Analytics.
Prior to joining RedBird, Gavin was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of Guggenheim Securities, where he advised a variety of clients within the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group on mergers and acquisitions, activism defense, equity and debt financings and leveraged buyouts.
Gavin received a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University. While at Harvard, Gavin was a member of the varsity swim team and competed in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Madelyn Monahan is an Associate at Otro, having joined the firm in January 2024.
Prior to joining Otro, Madelyn was an Analyst in the investment banking division at Citigroup, where she advised a variety of clients within the healthcare, consumer and wellness group on mergers and acquisitions, activism defense, equity and debt financings and leveraged buyouts.
Madelyn holds a B.S. from Lehigh University’s Computer Science and Business Honors Program. While at Lehigh, Madelyn was a member of the varsity field hockey team.
Nicholas is an Operating Partner of Otro Capital and currently serves as a Commercial Advisor for Alpine F1.
In 2023, Nick acted as a Commercial Advisor for Otro’s investment in Alpine F1, the Formula 1 team owned by Renault, alongside RedBird and Maximum Effort Investments, the investment group led by Ryan Reynolds.
Prior to Otro, Nicholas served as the Chief Revenue Officer of OneTeam Partners.
In his role at OneTeam Partners, Nicholas was responsible for developing commercial divisions, including consumer licensing, athlete marketing, sponsorships, content, and digital marketing. Nicholas helped lead OneTeam’s growth trajectory, resulting in ~5x its original earnings. Under his leadership, OneTeam developed partnerships with brands such as Bally’s, Walgreens, Amazon, DoorDash, Hasbro, and drove significant revenues for their PA partners including a 40x YOY increase for the MLSPA’s group sponsorship rights.
Prior to joining OneTeam, Nicholas had a successful 15-year commercial career leading multiple sports organizations. Most recently, Nicholas was the Sr. Vice President of Revenue for the Memphis Grizzlies overseeing commercial functions for the team, including ticketing, suite and premium sales, and corporate partnership sales and activation.
Prior to joining the Grizzlies, Nicholas was Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships and Suite Sales for the Cleveland Browns. Nicholas started his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers having success in multiple roles including tickets sales, sponsorship, and as a part of the organization’s commercial leadership team.
Since 2011, Nicholas has also had success as an entrepreneur, building businesses in the real estate, restaurant and non-profit verticals. Additionally, Nicholas along with his wife Pamela, co-founded Project NICU, a non-Profit venture that has provided over 48,000 NICU families across the US with resources and support.
Nicholas holds a B.A. in Sport Management from Bowling Green State University.
Chloe Cheng is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Otro.
Prior to joining Otro, Chloe was a Vice President at the Carlyle Group within Private Credit Fund Management, where she was responsible for overseeing various aspects of fund management, including investor and firm reporting, deal execution, tax structuring, new product launches and strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Chloe held diverse roles in finance, accounting, compliance and investor services at Atalaya, Blackstone and Goldman Sachs, managing both private equity and real estate funds.
Chloe began her career at Ernst & Young and KPMG, where she focused on managing audits for private equity and hedge funds.
Chloe holds an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a Certified Public Accountant.
