Alec Scheiner is a Founding Partner at Otro Capital and has operated, invested, and advised in the sports industry for over 25 years.
Prior to co-founding Otro, Alec was a Partner at RedBird Capital Partners and head of its sports investment practice. During that time, he originated the investments of OneTeam (founded with the NFL Players Association and the Major League Baseball Players Association), Toulouse FC, the Rajasthan Royals, Zelus Analytics, Collectors Universe and Dream Sports.
Previously, Alec had an operating career in sports and served as President of the Cleveland Browns from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, Alec spent eight years with the Dallas Cowboys, initially as General Counsel, then as the first non-ownership Senior Vice President. In that capacity, he was the point person and executive committee member for the Dallas Cowboys related to the creation of Legends Hospitality, in partnership with the New York Yankees and Goldman Sachs.
Alec began his career as a transactional lawyer at WilmerHale, where he worked on Steve Bisciotti’s purchase of a control stake of the Baltimore Ravens, Ted Leonsis’ acquisition of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, the relocation of the NBA Hornets to New Orleans, and transactional work for the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to his board service at Otro, Alec formally serves as an advisor to Fenway Sports Group and is an investor in PGA Tour Enterprises as part of the Strategic Sports Group.
Alec holds a B.S.F.S. in International Economics and Latin American Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law School.
Brent Stehlik is a Founding Partner at Otro Capital and has operated and invested in the sports industry for over 25 years.
Prior to co-founding Otro, Brent was an Operating Partner at RedBird Capital Partners and was involved in driving commercial growth across its sports portfolio. He also served as the President of OneTeam and was responsible for day-to-day activity of the business as well as commercial licensing growth and sponsorship opportunities. Brent helped lead OneTeam’s growth trajectory from $44 million to $177 million of EBITDA in less than three years, and helped architect partnerships with Electronic Arts, Dapper Labs, Fanatics Trading CardCo and DraftKings. Under Brent’s leadership, OneTeam added licenses with brands such as Bally’s and Dapper Labs, and signed long-term, incremental extensions with Electronic Arts and Sony, among others. He was instrumental in building relationships with the Major League Soccer Players Association, the United States Women’s National (Soccer) Team Players Association, National Women’s Soccer League Players Association, and Women’s National Basketball Association.
Brent previously had a 20-year career as an operator across sports leagues. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of the Cleveland Browns, where he oversaw all revenue generation including ticket sales and retention, operations, suite and premium sales, corporate partnership sales and activation, concessions, merchandise, and special events.
Previously, Brent was Senior Vice President of Business Operations for the San Diego Padres and held additional roles at the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brent holds a B.A. in Sport Business and double minor in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from the University of Mount Union.
Chloe Cheng is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Otro Capital.
Prior to joining Otro, Chloe was a Vice President at the Carlyle Group within Private Credit Fund Management, where she was responsible for overseeing various aspects of fund management including investor and firm reporting, deal execution, tax structuring, new product launches, and strategic initiatives.
Chloe previously held roles across finance, accounting, compliance, and investor services at Atalaya, Blackstone and Goldman Sachs, managing both private equity and real estate funds. She began her career at Ernst & Young and KPMG, where she focused on managing audits for private equity and hedge funds.
Chloe holds an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Gavin Springer is a Vice President of Otro Capital and a member of the founding team.
Prior to joining Otro, Gavin worked at RedBird Capital Partners, where he focused on sports and media investments. Gavin was actively involved in the management and oversight across multiple investments in the firm’s sports portfolio.
Gavin started his career in the investment banking division of Guggenheim Securities, where he advised a variety of clients within the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group on mergers and acquisitions, activism defense, equity and debt financings, and leveraged buyouts.
Gavin holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, where he was a member of the varsity swim team and competed in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Isaac Halyard is a Founding Partner at Otro Capital.
Prior to co-founding the firm, Isaac worked at RedBird Capital Partners for six years, where he was actively involved from both an investment and operational capacity in 14 platform acquisitions across the sports, media and entertainment industries.
Isaac started his career in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, where he advised a variety of clients within the technology, media and telecommunications group on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings and leveraged buyouts.
Philanthropically, Isaac serves on the Board of Directors of FC Harlem, a specialized non-profit focusing on youth soccer development.
Isaac holds a B.A. in Economics and a minor in African and African American Studies from Stanford University. He was named to Sports Business Journal’s New Voices Under 30 in 2021.
Julia Gierasimow is an Executive Assistant at Otro Capital.
Prior to joining Otro, Julia was the Partnerships and Operations Manager at HUG (acquired by .ART) and Zuckerberg Media, founded by Randi Zuckerberg. She drove revenue growth, managed strategic partnerships, and oversaw business operations while serving as Randi’s Head Executive Assistant, leading communications and strategic initiatives.
Julia began her career as an eighth-grade science teacher as well as Department Head at Leaders of Tomorrow Middle School through Teach for America, where she led STEM curriculum implementation, spearheaded department-wide initiatives, and mentored science educators.
Julia holds a Master’s in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and a B.S. in Psychobiology with a minor in German from UCLA.
Madelyn Monahan is an Associate at Otro Capital.
Prior to joining Otro, Madelyn worked in the investment banking division at Citigroup, where she advised a variety of clients within the healthcare, consumer, and wellness group on mergers and acquisitions, activism defense, equity and debt financings and leveraged buyouts.
Madelyn holds a B.S. from Lehigh University’s Computer Science and Business Honors Program. While at Lehigh, Madelyn was a member of the varsity field hockey team.
Nicholas is an Operating Partner of Otro Capital and currently serves as a Commercial Advisor for the firm’s investment in Alpine F1.
Prior to Otro, Nicholas served as the Chief Revenue Officer of OneTeam Partners. In this capacity, Nicholas was responsible for developing commercial divisions including consumer licensing, athlete marketing, sponsorships, content, and digital marketing. Nicholas helped lead the growth trajectory of the business, resulting in approximately 5x its original earnings. Under his leadership, OneTeam developed partnerships with brands such as Bally’s, Walgreens, Amazon, and DoorDash, and saw significant revenue increases for their players association partners, including a 40x YOY increase for the MLSPA’s group sponsorship rights.
Nicholas previously had a 15-year commercial career across sports leagues, most recently serving as Vice President of Revenue for the Memphis Grizzlies, where he oversaw commercial functions.
Before the Memphis Grizzlies, Nicholas was Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships and Suite Sales for the Cleveland Browns. He started his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers with multiple roles including tickets sales and sponsorship, and he ultimately served as a part of the commercial leadership team.
Nicholas is also an entrepreneur and has built businesses in the real estate, restaurant and non-profit verticals. Additionally, Nicholas along with his wife Pamela, co-founded Project NICU, a non-Profit venture that has provided over 48,000 NICU families across the US with resources and support.
Nicholas holds a B.A. in Sport Management from Bowling Green State University.
Nick Loring is an Associate at Otro Capital.
Prior to joining Otro, Nick worked in the Private Equity Group at Bain & Company, where he advised a variety of clients within the software and consumer sectors on investment due diligence and post-merger integrations.
Nick holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, where he was a member of the varsity lacrosse team.
Nikki Stokes is Head of Partnerships at Otro and oversees Investor Relations, Marketing, and Communications. Additionally, she supports Otro’s portfolio companies with their strategic partnerships and external engagement.
Prior to joining Otro, Nikki served as Chief of Staff for Ariel Alternatives, the private equity subsidiary of Ariel Investments. Reporting to the CEO, she led investor relations and partnered with the firm’s leadership on strategic growth. The firm’s first fund closed with $1.45 billion in capital and is one of the largest funds raised by a first-time manager globally. Nikki started at Ariel Investments as Chief of Staff to the Co-CEO & President, and served as a member of the firm’s Risk Committee.
Nikki began her career at the National Basketball Association (NBA) leading partnerships for its minor league, the NBA Gatorade League. In this capacity, she owned relationships with 17 corporate sponsors such as MGM Resorts International and Kia, acquired new business, and negotiated upsells. She was also co-chair of the NBA’s Black employee resource group.
Nikki is a director of the International Spy Museum and PeacePlayers US, and a trustee of Georgetown University’s George F. Baker Scholars. She holds a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University, with a minor in African American Studies. She was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2024.
Niraj Shah is a Founding Partner at Otro Capital.
Prior to co-founding the firm, Niraj worked at RedBird Capital Partners for nine years, where he was actively involved from both an investment and operational capacity in 14 platform acquisitions across the sports, media and entertainment industries.
Niraj previously worked at Apax Partners, where he focused on investments within the media and business services industries. Niraj began his career in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, focused on the consumer and retail sectors.
Niraj holds a B.S. in Finance and Marketing with honors from The Ohio State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2017 and Mergers and Acquisition’s Rising Stars of Private Equity in 2021.
